Study Guide Preparation: The dramaturg will work with the director and artistic director to customize a study guide for the play and your community. Our resident graphic designer will also work to make the study guide visually interesting for all levels of students (elementary through high school). Theatre companies may choose to include discussion questions (the dramaturg will contact local schools and speak with teachers to determine what SOL’s are being covered at any given time.
Research: The researcher will provide all clients with a time estimate before beginning work. The client will be expected to pay half of the fee as a down payment. The other half of the fee will be paid upon completion of work. If the researcher finds that more time will be required to complete any given assignment, the client will be notified so that they may authorize additional time (the client may choose to restrict the researcher to the original estimate and will only receive research garnered for the paid time). All research provided to the client will be documented so that the client may pursue other avenues of research on their own should they choose.
Actor Research Packs: The theatre company or director may choose to do one standard actor pack with basic information that will work for ALL actors in a given piece, or the company/director may select the “customized” option (excellent for plays with dialect work). The dramaturg can do a combination of these options (i.e. customized packs for “leads” and standard packs for supporting roles).
